Humidor questions
Howdy all you super smart smokers out there here is a newby question for you. I got a humi last week, and I had alittle trouble adjusting the hygrometer plus I’m not a big fan of analog, so I got a digital one, anywho its reading around 73% is that bad I thought good was around 68 to 70. If this is bad how do I remedy this, if its not just tell me so I don’t worry about ruining all”being 20” of my cigars. yeah I know my stash is weak but I’m working on it….if 42 could get his head out of his butt and fix TC already then maybe I would have more…hahaha

BD's link.....
That is a pretty good link for you JeffMoose. Just as each persons taste is different for cigars, so is their preferred humidity level. I actually keep mine around 72-73%. I’m probably gonna catch some crap from some of these guys, but that’s where I feel comfy with mine. Did you get some of the propylene glycol for your humi?? It will really help your RH to hover around 70%. Also…it is called RELATIVE humidity for a reason…it will change a little as teperature changes!

Yeah they sent me a bottle of a already mix amount…Its pretty consistent with the 73. I haven’t really seen any bad effects yet so I’ll just keep it like that for now.I might also help when I actually fill up my humi…its a 100 cigar humi with like 20 smokes in it….Could we hurry up and resume business yet 42….lets get this show on the road.hahaha..

My humi is around 68-72%, and the gars are just fine. I would make sure and watch the tem this summer and not let it get to warm….....

Drudging up an old post
I use Humidity beads to keep my humidor that I smoke out of at 65%. I find even as low as 50% Produces a nice smoke but does nothing for aging.
Many B%M’s keep their humidors at 50% as they smoke well at this range and B&M’s are in the business of moving inventory quickly not aging. Those with LARGE selections tend to keep it higher as they do not move as fast and slightly aged cigars are better than not. Still most B&M’s keep their humidors below 70% My aging humidor/s I try to keep at 70%.
I like a loose to medium not very loose but I don’t like to make a Pucker/fish face trying to draw. So this is why I keep my humi at a lower range as the tobacco swells as we all know with high humidity.
Other than that I’ve gone the tuperidor/cooleridor route before and Due to the heat in my apartment they are just too hot so all I have to say is a Cedar humi with beads and a calibrated digital hygrometer 2 to 3 times the size you think you will need or your first humidor which is usually a 100ct+ humi is your best bet even for a beginner as you wont believe how fast you will fill it the biggest problem most people have with their humidors is that they run out of space. So spend the money now or waste the money later after you buy many small humis and it becomes a hassle and a waste of money when you finally buy the one you should of in the beginning. Sorry for going off topic but I thought it would be nice for new smokers to know. Also save yourself some hassle and get a good lighter and a punch or cutter your preference when I was a newbie I used a punch because it is easier than learning to cut correctly but now I ONLY cut. Here are some sites that you can get everything you need for newbies. I am no way affiliated with any of these sites other than being a satisfied customer every time.

(this is the only humidor site I have purchased from. I wont recommend anything I haven’t tried and have been satisfied with but if you get a humidor somewhere else, I know there are more that possibly have great deals but this is the one I used. The only information I can give for purchasing a humidor online is to look for one that has “sure seal technology” as you cannot test them online although this site I posted accepts returns and I have not seen a quality 50ct humi anywhere else for $30.)
