Today's Cigar

Sancho Panza Dulcinea 5-Pack (288-16.49)

Discuss today’s cigar – Sancho Panza Dulcinea 5-Pack

you got me frank

I am with you on that statement I probably would not turn down any cigar given to me, especially due to respect of the giver. I am very frugal so I will smoke any cigar given to me with two exceptions. One, cigars I already know I Hate, and if this is the case I will politely tell the giver I would like to save it for later. Two, cigars I have yet to try that make my hate list as I smoke it. I have a special place for those cigars, the toilet. I figure thats were it was meant to go, especially since it instantly puts it out and ends the experience with a quick flush.

Also you are correct I do Like the VSG but I HATE the Price so I rarely buy them and I have never gotten a box. I also was a little too critical of Dominican tobacco I don’t hate it but I believe the brands that use it well are overpriced.

I’m all over the place, as usual but how about that Classico, care to give a small review on it? (I am terrible at reviewing cigars so I understand if you can’t) The best I can do is describe cigars is by comparing it to other cigars I have had, for example “this tastes like “a padron and a RP sungrown had a baby” or something. besides that I will describe how it smokes and say if I like it or not. When it comes to saying things like “it has a woody taste with leathery accents and has a coffee, mocha like aftertaste” I am better at typing a readable post than trying to describe cigars in that way, LoL. Ive never really paid attention to wood and leather smells and such so it takes work to be able to review a cigar well.

I to normally smoke Robustos. Although in the case of Don Pepin I tend to go for more old school type Vitolas like a corona sized maybe with a pigtail or shag foot or box press. Although Robustos or Toros are my normal smoke.

Next week I will be making a new box purchase and I dont know what I am going to get I am pretty sure I am going to be making a under $100 purchase any suggestions. I might just get another box of Padrons and since i dont want to spend over $100 ill go with the 2000’s. Unless I find something New I want to try. If i were going to spend more it would probably be a box of San Cristobal’s. Maybe I can find some classicos or something on Cbid but I doubt it. I wanted to get some Dona Flor Selecao’s I like the original Dona Flor but I wanted to try these but the only place I know that sells them they are currently out of stock. :( So someone give me an idea.

beatnik

for under $50, you could get some 5 Vegas A’s…cannot believe they are that cheap, and they rock.

as for VSGs, i like them YOUNG, so i doubt i would ever buy a whole box…for me, they lose their uumph when aged.

but back to the ashton question—have you had an aged maduro? here is my story…i am reading about famous people and their cigars when i was a TOTAL noob. and i get to Cosby (love the man and he loves the ashton aged maduro)...i read it. #10 (or something)...i get to the local (in Texas), screw up and get the #50. i get home, look it up, wrong number, and i am pissed! now i think it is a total waste of a cigar, so one day when i am walking to meet my wife, i torch it thinking it is a tosser. BEST CIGAR i had ever had to that day. it was incredible…my first nubbing, as well.

true, it has never been that good since, but still…i would say except for those 2, of the ashtons i have tried, i would put them in the AVO group: “good, but i would not buy them.”

taking over this site

That’s right, we have taken it over and will bore you all to tears if you don’t jump in with your own posts!

1) never been able to identify all the tastes that others write about, generally they have tobacco taste that I love, like, tolerate or hate. Maybe I get some subtleties here and there, a hit of licorice, definitely coffee or cocoa or mocha on occasion, but I’m lost when it comes to florals, etc. Though I can tell when a cigar has no change (not complex),and that’s not always bad if i am liking it.

2) the san cristobal was back in september, and to quote my late father when asked what his bourbon tasted like, he’d always respond “it tastes like… another”. same with the san cristobal, I would like another. I feel safe saying it had an earthy richness that is about my favorite taste in tobacco. it had fullness, as opposed to full strength high octane, was never over powering, never coated my tongue and mouth with endless peppery tingling (not always bad to me, love that in some full smokes). There was more rounded feeling to it than sharpness, again something I like but will disappoint the Litto Gomez crowd, I dunno, can a cigar be mellow and almost full at the same time? I guess I’d say earthy flavor in a medium to full smoke. Lots of money compared to Padron 2k, 3k etc, I THINK it was like $7/$8/$9 in Boston.

3) Maybe me and WTF? are the only ones buying them, but I too am amazed how CHEAP you can get 5 Vegas A’s (and only A’s would I get). Gorgeous black wrapper, unique prelit aroma, start strong, lots of flavors going on, something I’ve tasted but can never describe (dill? nah can’t be), particularly in the big box-press Apex, but I also like the 54 ring shorter guy. never had a plugged one, never had a bad burn, and yet I’m always wondering if “experts” are laughing at me for loving cigars that cost less than $3 each including shipping by the 5 pack! Wasn’t sure about my very first one, tasted strange, but from the second one on they’ve always been good. All my smoking friends are on to them now too.

4) are those cigars you talking about the Brazilian boys you wrote about a few months ago? You really love those, huh?

Sancho Panza

i had one of these the other day, i got it in a sampler and never looked that good. so it sat in the humi for about a year. i was suprise, it was very good stick.

sancho panza aged

Aww, man – age some of the Sancho Panza double maduro’s for 6 months or more, and you’ve got a GREAT stick. Redneck band, if you ask me, reminiscent of a WWE Wrestling belt, what with all of the gold with black lettering… but who cares, I don;t smoke the band anyhow.
Not sure on this particular blend of Sancho’s – haven’t had but one, and it was so under- humidified that it was plugged and had burn problems (the shop I got it at didn’t humidify it correctly, so it isn’t the stick’s fault).
Well, several days late and a few bucks short for this offering, but it’s still just my 2 cents worth,
