Discuss today’s cigar – Te Amo Aniversario Toro Maduro 5-Pack

Well... it's Mexican...

Being honest, Te Amo just isn’t for me – PERSONAL preference.
Not that they’re bad… well, not Swisher Sweet or Phillies Blunt bad… but they’re dry on the palate and have a straw- n- grass component to the flavor – typical for Mexican tobacco. The dominican and nicaraguan (I think that’s the blend??) tobaccos make the finish somewhat woody or leathery, I can’t quite recall and my journal says I couldn’t quite place the flavors, but the dry grassy/ straw/ alfalfa flavors were the strongest ones I picked up. The maduro wrapper was a nice twist, and GREATLY improved the smoke – nice bit of coffee, or maybe burnt coffee/ fire- and- coffee / espresso- and- charcoal flavors in the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the stick, but then the grassy flavors overpowered again and I had to set it down.
They’re not typical smokes for Mexican tobaccos, but the stereotypical dry grassiness for Mexican tobaccos is still very much detectable; they’re honestly just not my gig. I will say that the anniversarios are FAR better than the ‘regular’ line, but it’s a relative ‘FAR better’...
Using a ‘new father’ example, I was recently changing a diaper and heard our son’s belly rumble, so I pulled down the diaper and lifted his legs to see if he had soiled the fresh diaper, resulting in him letting fly and me getting a face full of semi- solid wastes… For those named “Captain Oblivious”, that’s way bad. For analogy, being ‘christened’ by liquids is “FAR better” than explosive diarrhea, in my opinion, but I still wouldn’t go out of my way to get it…
Not that this cigar is like urine, of course, but I’m just saying don’t expect the top shelf primo, either. Better than a gas station smoke, for sure, but the flavors just aren’t to my PERSONAL likings. If you like milder smokes (on the medium side of mild) with a fresh-rolled, dry/ grassy bite and a distinct charcoal- and- coffee flavor, I suppose this is the cigar you’re after. For me, personally, it just isn’t to my flavor profile.
Still, for those out there who haven’t tried mostly- Mexican cigars, try these – you’ll never know what you like (or dislike) in cigars until you try some of everything… and if you’re going to try Mexican cigars, this is the one to try with, as they have other flavors mixed in to somewhat even out the mix.
Some of my friends swear by these things, and the smokes are cheap enough, but my PERSONAL opinion is that they’re less than stellar.
Just my 2 cents worth, see if you agree,
