Discuss today’s cigar – Chateau Real by Drew Estate Magnum 46 5-Pack

…because I have not purchased here in a very long time, but I do check every day for two reasons.

1) I still hope to find a good deal on smokes I like or have been wanting to try

2) I still hope to read comments and garner info and learn

Sorry to say that the last two weeks have been virtual mirror images of the same offerings. And it feels like I see the same small pool of smokes circulating around for months. This in an industry that is bursting with new products almost daily!

I hope and assume that 42 is enjoying wild success, seems like a tremendous guy and the premise he turned into this business site is a great American story. I’ve seen from the launching many obstacles he has overcome and I would really like to make at least monthly purchases.

I guess I could be blind to the demands of the marketplace and totally biased as to my own preferences. but I get bored by the parade of Gisperts, Helixes, Nordings et al. I am excited when I see the rare JDN Antano, or something other than entry level smokes, but I have to admit that they generally work out to retail at best after factoring shipping costs(retail in the Boston area at least)and quite often savvy smokers can readily find better five pack deals at other websites.

That said, I think the above explains the loss of the “buzz” on this site as evidenced by the total lack of new posts. It seems other sites are inundated by writings as the cigar smoking community tends to follow the industry fervently. Their posters even share info on deals available at other sites, but this site is NEVER mentioned!. There has been no news, no new threads here for months, maybe over a year! The Community Tab is totally ignored and basically out of business!

42, just tell me to mind my own business and I will, but I really have been rooting for you all along. At one time there were posts every day from cigar veterans with info and insights that drew readers who I am sure would eventually purchase. One could check back every few hours and see a couple more opinions, but that is over. This site needs a new “buzz” factor, some kind of shake up, a break from the boredom that has set in…a way to get a base of commentators back to their keyboards generating the passion that cigar enthusiasts have for their hobby. This site needs to become a Community Club again.

I apologize for sounding critical when I intend to help, I have no right to knock you when I really admire your creation here, but I would like to get charged up enough to make purchases once in a while, even for a buck or two more..

I’d love to see the rambling yet knowledgeable posts of Beatnik again, the wisdom and tips of BD and WTF, the humor of Bluebusa and Tom the Golfer et al. But I fear they have become bored too, and it is insane that a vibrant product with dedicated zealots like us should become bored.

Sorry, but I remain a fan…

We certainly appreciate the feedback, and we invite others to provide their feedback as well.

Our business is going through a bunch of changes right now. As we mentioned in our blog post Changes on the Horizon we have a bunch of stuff coming down the pipe. We’re going live with some administrative website changes in the next few days, after which we’ll be focusing our efforts entirely on wrapping up the front-end website changes.

Part of what we’re doing with all of this is, we’re trying to liquidate a bunch of existing inventory to make room for new cigars we’ve never run before. The plan is to go live with the front-end changes with new cigars to back it all up. So the reason you’ve been seeing a lot of duplicates is because we’re trying to time these inventory liquidations to coincide with our website update plans.

Hey 42, sorry I forced your hand, didn’t mean to “out” you! I am looking forward to the changes.

I just found this site from “Cigar Obsession” daily deal referral. Never been here before but will be coming back daily. Albeit not from a user post at least it was mentioned and I found! Just wish there were some Chateau Real left.
